A letter for my family

Fill this in on your phone. Print it or save a copy. It is not a will and it is not advice.

Please read this first. This page is only a prompt to help you organise information for your family. It does not replace a will, lasting power of attorney, trust, or legal advice. Advance Wealth Limited is authorised and regulated by the FCA. Completing this page is not financial, tax or legal advice and does not instruct us to change any product. Privacy: anything you type stays only on your own device or browser. It is not sent to Advance Wealth, not visible to us, and not stored by us. Do not enter passwords, PIN codes, recovery codes, security answers, or anything else that could be used to access an account.

Who this is for

Use first names. This letter is from you, in your words.

Papers, work and funeral

Locations and names only. Skip anything that does not apply.

Phones, photos and locked accounts

Set this up while you are alive. A locked iPhone can keep photos and messages out of reach.

  • iPhone: Settings, your name, Sign-In and Security, Legacy Contact. Give that person the access key Apple creates. A Legacy Contact can request certain eligible account data, not everything on the phone.
  • Facebook: add a legacy contact in Facebook memorialisation settings, or note whether you want the account memorialised or removed.
  • Instagram: check Instagram’s own memorialisation settings (they are not the same as Facebook’s), or note whether you want the account memorialised or removed.
  • Google: Inactive Account Manager.
  • Prefer a password-manager emergency kit stored with your solicitor or in a safe.

Do not write passwords, PIN codes, recovery codes, security answers, the iPhone passcode, or a recovery phrase here.

People to speak to

Contacts only. This list is not a recommendation to take any product or legal step.

Finish and keep a copy

Save on this phone first. Then print a paper copy and tell one trusted person where it lives.

Subjects families often raise with their own advisers, when they are ready: whether a will still fits, whether protection should be reviewed, whether business paperwork needs a solicitor, and whether any debts or gifts are already covered by the will. Those are topics, not instructions from Advance Wealth.
